Stonewall’s Trans Allies Programme

Trans allies are crucial to achieving trans equality. Stonewall’s Trans Allies  programme explores the steps individuals can take to be effective allies to trans people. Q:alliance Chair, Helen Pritchard, went along to the London session to find out more.

Helen described the day as a great experience, getting the opportunity to not only meet a variety of people from different backgrounds but also exploring how to be a Trans ally within the workplace and everyday life.

One of the aims of the programme is to create a network of Trans allies who can create more inclusive workplaces together. We are looking forward to sharing some of the resources from the day shortly, and would recommend attending the sessions if you can.

Are you looking for a way to help the transgender community? If you haven’t done so already and you have the time, please submit a response to the Government’s Consultation on the Gender Recognition Act before it closes on 19th October 2018 (this Friday). If you’d like some advice on what the questions mean and how best to answer them, the following organisations have put together some guidance:

Amnesty International
Mermaids (particularly for parents of trans/non binary young people)
